Large Contracts

In the late 1980's, Cannon & Wendt Electric Company made a strategic decision to concentrate on design-build and design-assist electrical contracting projects. Since implementing this strategy, Cannon & Wendt's Large Contracts Division has played an integral role as the leading electrical contractor of the Valley's major:

Our Large Contracts Division's Project Managers and Field Supervisors thoroughly understand the needs of all electric service projects and are known for successful application of the principles of partnering - trust, commitment, and equity - principles we are proud to say apply to every project we undertake.

What We Do in Design-Assist

Regardless of size or complexity, Cannon & Wendt Electric Company plays an integral, active role as a design-assist team member, uniquely qualified to help your construction project team by:

  • Developing major milestones for the summary schedule
  • Prioritizing design completion - what we need first and why to meet the electrical construction schedule deadlines
  • Coordinating the completion of the single-line diagram, a vital component to the project schedule
  • Developing specifications for the electrical contracting project that are of appropriate quality for the specific facility
  • Coordinating with equipment manufacturers to determine if equipment rooms are large enough and if the proposed equipment will meet the requirements of the project
  • Targeting possible trade conflicts or scope omissions between the specialty trades, then determine the logical subcontractor to carry each issue
  • Providing continuous estimating during the design phase in order to provide immediate updates of project costs in the GMP
  • Beginning the ongoing value engineering process to reduce the cost of the electrical work before design completion
  • Assisting in the completion and review of design drawings
  • Helping to speed the plan-check and permitting process thanks to the strength of our relationships with local regulatory agencies

What You Save with Design-Assist

The design-assist process gives your project team cost-saving advantages, including:

  1. Shorter project duration that translates into earlier utilization of your facility
  2. Ability to discuss the impact of potential scope changes before implementation
  3. Reducing extra costs due to the intensive trade coordination amongst the design-assist contractors
  4. Offsetting the cost of requested scope changes through ongoing value engineering
